and Folke Tegetthoff present...

Tales of Graz is
one of the world biggest "Storytelling Festivals" - unique
of its kind of converting a whole city into a "tale".
|
 |
"The
art of story-telling is much more than a "stage art", and
much more than "entertainment". Therefore, this festival -
unique in Europe and dedicated to this rediscovered art form - is
much more than just a cultural attraction.
The art of story-telling is simply the "re-living" -
hearing, seeing, and feeling - of what life is about; namely our
past, present, and future."
Folke
Tegetthoff

The motto for the "Tales of Graz" festival 2001: Stories
of the world World stories
Unlike
in the year 2000, which had the "family" as the primary cell of
society as its catchword, this year we are setting a logical counterpoint
with "world stories". Since 1988 the "LONG NIGHTS OF THE
STORYTELLERS" have stood for tolerance towards those of other
beliefs, for openness and global thinking storytellers and musicians from
23 nations have been our guests!
Three of the highlights can be emphasised to represent the whole program
for Tales of Graz 2001: Francis Bebey from Cameroon is regarded as the
father of world music. Mary Carter Smith: the 82-year-old is admired as
icon and great mother of Afro-American storytelling. And Musafir, the
"Gypsies from Rajasthan" (India), will present their mythology
in authentic folk art.
TALES OF GRAZ, the unique festival world-wide, presents no show or stage
program rather it presents nothing more than LIFE ITSELF...
