The
34-year-old from Utrecht particularly likes telling stories lying on
the border between truth and untruth. Laughing or desperate faces
are for him a sign of recognising one's own thought patterns and
their traps. "What can contribute more to understanding than
laughing together about our characteristics?" Direct contact
with his audience is very important to Raymond.
Raymond's inspirations come straight out of his daily life. Since
the part of the city of Lombok where he lives and works is well
known for its multi-ethnicity in the whole of Holland, it is in
particular stories from the "new Dutch" brought with them
from Morocco, Iran, Turkey or Surinam which he passes on.
"Cultural angles on daily experiences make the stories so new
and exciting for us."
Apart from his appearances as a storyteller, Raymond works as a
director for a theatre group, as an actor (among others in
international narrative theatre productions) and gives courses in
storytelling in German and Dutch.
