As early as 1979 Folke publishad his first book, and he has been working creatively ever since. More than 4000 performances have brought him into 35 countries. For thirteen years he has been organizing Europe's biggest festival of storytelling. Since three years it has been called Graz erzaehlt - Tales of Graz and year after year it transforms Graz and her visitors into a fairy-land.

Biography

Folke was born 1954 in Graz, Austria.
After several years studying medicine and education theory, he left university and Austria in 1977 and spent one year in Ibiza, Spain "discovering himself". Afterwards he worked in Hamburg, Germany as songwriter, PR writer and tourmanager. One morning he came upon a fairy tale and knew that this was something that would change the rest of his life. He then dedicated about one year, researching and looking into the fairy tale and its theory. At the end
of 1978 he wrote his first book of fairy tales.

Till 1998 28 books have been published (over 1 million copies), Translations published in USA, China, Japan, Mexico, Tschechia, Slovenjia and Pakistan.
7 TV movies released, TV appearances around the globe,
approximately 4000 performances (in German and English) given in 38 countries around the world.

In 1986 the "Folke Tegetthoff Collection", the first official archiv worldwide about his work was opened at Murray State University, Kentucky, U.S.A.
2 theses about his work have been published.
Since 1988 he is the organizer of Europes biggest storytellingfestival GRAZ ERZÄHLT - Tales of Graz.

Folke Tegetthoff combines classical elements of the fairy tale with contemporary art: the creation of new fairy tales, the narration and, particulary, the fairy tale as a philosophy of life!

In 1994 he received (as the first Austrian) one of the most important awards worldwide, the "YGDRASIL" - the LEGO Prize - (US$ 100.000) which is awarded every year to individuals or organisations who have helped generate a broader understanding of children, their situation and conditions (as the second author after Astrid Lindgren)!

In 1997 Foundation of WONDER WORLD LLC, Fantasy Company. Responsible for international marketing of Folke Tegetthoffs ideas and projekts, especially his themeparc-projekt:
WWOM - WONDER WORLD OF MUSIC (registrated trademark)

In 1982 he married Astrid from Holland. In 1985 Tessa was born, 1986 Sophie, 1989 Kira and 1993 Floris.
Since 1990 the Tegetthoffs live in the old, former nunnery of St. Georgen, in the south of the Austrian province of Styria together with 2 goats, 13 chicken, ducks, geese, birds, fishes, rabbits, a dog, fairies and elves..
