Sam was born in 1951 in Chicago. His grandparents were from Sicily
and Croatia. He has been living in France since 1974. After his
studies in modern languages and linguistics (Georgetown Univ/Wash,DC)
he moved to Europe where he studied theatre, dance and body movement
with different European and American instructors. He begann telling
stories in 1982 and has worked all over Europe (france, Germany,
Portugal, the Scandinavian Countries, Ireland etc and has been invited
to Tales of Graz five times) as well as extensively in West Afriapprox.
In his tales he uses English, French, German, Italien, Danish and
Sign Language and his stories are at the same time oral, visual
and gestural. His poetry has been published in Rumania, Japan New
Zealand and Canada. Sam lives with his wife Margrethe Hojlund, Denmark,
a storyteller herselfe and theire two children in a small village
near Lyon called Parcieux.
