Saddek El Kebir was born in El Khroub (East Algeria) on April
8th 1945. He studied theatre in Berlin from 1967 until 1972. Between 1973 and
1988 he was stage manager and moderator at Algerian Television. Since 1988 he
has been working as a free-lance script author and storyteller in Berlin. Since
2001 he has been appearing as a storyteller in Algeria, Germany, France, Austria
und Switzerland, and he has also made films.
Saddek El Kebir tells the fairy-tales of the 1001 nights in his own way. He
knows how to keep the listeners spellbound with his hoarse and deep voice and
gestures. He mixes centuries-old traditions with the present.
